The Screeners section of the sidebar holds four pages that search the whole municipal universe rather than a watchlist. They work the same way, so learning one teaches you the rest.

The filter bar

Each page opens with one or two filters already on screen. To add more, click Filters and pick from the list: issuer, obligor, CUSIP, state, sector and subsector, obligation type, instrument form, Moody’s and S&P rating, use of proceeds, source of repayment, tax status, dates, and so on. Results update as you change a filter, with a live count above the table, and the filters you chose stay in the URL so you can bookmark a search or send it to a colleague. The newer ones:
  • Sector and Subsector classify the obligor’s business. They replace the old issuer sector filter.
  • Obligation type is the pledge that secures repayment, for example unlimited tax GO or lease appropriation.
  • Instrument form is bond, certificate of participation, note, and so on.
  • Moody’s rating and S&P rating match a security’s current long-term rating. Rating group keeps the coarser investment grade / high yield split.
Click the x on a filter to clear and remove it. Trades and Documents also have a Period filter, since both are time ordered: today, last 7 / 14 / 30 / 90 days, 1 year, or 3 years. Trades opens on the last 7 days and Documents on the last 30.

Securities

Lists securities with CUSIP, ticker, series, issuer, state, coupon rate, maturity, and whether the bond is callable or taxable. Click any row to open its security page.

Obligors

Opens on the obligors you work on, most recently active first. Each row shows the obligor’s state and county, how many CUSIPs it has outstanding, and how many Data Tables, Tear Sheets and Deep Dive sessions you have on it. Clear the My activity filter to browse every obligor. The search box matches an obligor’s name, state or county, and the CUSIPs, series and issuers behind it. The filters narrow by the obligor’s own state, or keep obligors with at least one CUSIP matching a sector, obligation type, instrument form, rating, repayment source, or issue or maturity date range. The info icon beside each filter in the Filters menu explains what it matches. Click a row to open the obligor page.

Trades

Lists MSRB trades with trade time (Eastern), CUSIP, ticker, issuer, state, trade type (customer bought, customer sold, inter-dealer), par amount, price and yield. A Flags column marks when-issued trades, weighted average price trades, list offering price, alternative trading system and non-transaction compensation. Click a row to open the security page.

Documents

Lists filings with their publication date, name, issuer and type. Two more columns come from the summary we generate for every filing:
  • Sentiment: positive, neutral or negative.
  • Takeaways: the headline points, so you can scan a period without opening anything.
Click a row to expand the full summary and its tags, or click the filing name to open the document itself.
Documents searches everything published, not just your watchlists. Use it when you want to see what a sector has filed lately. Use Surveillance when you only care about names you already follow.
