The Terrapin connector gives Claude read-only access to Terrapin’s data. It can’t change anything in your Terrapin account, and Terrapin receives the tool calls Claude makes, not your conversation.

Before you start

You need a Terrapin account with API access. On Claude Team and Enterprise, an Owner first adds the connector for the organization: in Organization settings → Connectors, click Browse connectors, select Terrapin and click Add to your team. Until then, a Team member sees Request on Terrapin, which asks the Owners to add it. Each member then connects with their own Terrapin account.

Connect in Claude

1

Find Terrapin in the directory

In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Customize → Connectors, click the + next to Connectors, and search for Terrapin.
2

Connect

Click Connect. Claude opens Terrapin’s sign-in page.
3

Sign in to Terrapin

Enter your email and the 6-digit PIN code we email you. If you’re already signed in, Terrapin skips this step.
4

Choose the organization and approve

Pick the organization whose plan and quotas Claude should use, and click Approve. You’re back in Claude, with Terrapin under your connectors.
5

Use it in a chat

Click the + in the lower left of the chat, hover over Connectors and check that Terrapin is on. Then ask a question, such as one of the example prompts.

Connect in Claude Code

If you sign in to Claude Code with your Claude account, the connectors you connected in Claude are already there, Terrapin included. Otherwise, add the server:
Add --scope user to use it in every project, not only the current one. Then run /mcp in a Claude Code session, select terrapin and choose Authenticate. Terrapin opens in your browser: sign in, pick the organization and click Approve. The approval page names claude.ai rather than Claude Code, and warns that it returns you to an app on your computer, which any app there could pose as. Approve only if you started the sign-in yourself.

Troubleshooting

For errors that aren’t specific to Claude, see Troubleshooting in MCP access.

Claude can’t read a document

To fetch the link download_document returns, Claude needs code execution, or in Claude Code a terminal, that’s allowed to reach terrapinfinance.com, as Network access describes.
