# Sessions

> Create, navigate, and manage Deep Dive research sessions.

A session bundles together an entity (a CUSIP or obligor), a set of attached documents, a thread of questions and answers, and any follow-up state. Sessions are persistent: come back weeks later and the whole conversation, document selection, and feedback history are still there.

## Creating a session

In the Deep Dive sidebar, enter a **CUSIP or entity name** and submit. A new session opens on the right.

You can also enter Deep Dive from:

* A **Security page** (uses that CUSIP).
* A **document in the file viewer** (pre-scopes the session to that document).
* A **Surveillance event** (pre-scopes to the event's documents and years-back setting).

When a session is created, the platform:

* Resolves the CUSIP to its issuer and obligor.
* Attaches the disclosure documents we have for that entity.
* Applies default [document filters](/platform-guide/deep-dive/documents-and-filters).
* Opens the session and focuses the question box.

<Tip>You can deep-link into a new session at `/platform/deep-dive?cusip=<CUSIP>`.</Tip>

## Layout

* **Sidebar**: every session you've created, grouped by entity. Click any card to switch. Rename or delete from the hover menu.
* **Header bar**: entity name, CUSIP, session ID, last activity, and the [document filter](/platform-guide/deep-dive/documents-and-filters) bar.
* **Conversation area**: your questions and the agent's answers. Each agent response shows:
  * A timeline of the steps it took (which documents it searched, which it read in full).
  * The answer with inline citations linking to source pages.
  * Feedback buttons to flag good or bad answers.
  * An **Export** button to save as PDF or DOCX.

## Asking questions

Type in the chat box and press Enter. The agent will:

1. Decide which attached documents are relevant.
2. Retrieve and read the most relevant passages.
3. Draft an answer that quotes or paraphrases them, with citations.

Each citation is a link that opens the source document on the cited page. Follow-up questions share the same retrieval context, so you can drill in without re-establishing scope.

### Slash commands

Type `/` in the chat box to open the command menu. Today it surfaces **run-prompt**. See [Using prompts](/platform-guide/deep-dive/using-prompts).

### Attaching extra documents

Click the paperclip next to the chat box to open the **Upload modal**. From here you can:

* Upload a new file (PDF or other supported types). Uploads are scoped to your organization and saved to your personal library so you can reuse them on other sessions.
* Pick from your library to attach a document you or a teammate uploaded earlier.

Attached documents take part in retrieval immediately and are persisted with the session.

## Cancelling, retrying, deleting

* While the agent is working, click **stop** to cancel. The conversation rolls back to the state before your last question and your text is restored in the input.
* If a query fails, the response has a **Retry** action to re-run the same question.
* To delete a session, hover its card in the sidebar and click the trash icon. Deleted sessions can't be recovered.

## Feedback

Below each agent response there are 👍 / 👎 buttons. Use them. Your feedback feeds our evaluation harness and is how we improve the agent on the credits you actually work with.
